2014 Drawing To A Close

As 2014 draws to a close I realize that while I had several essay length blog posts that I wanted to make during 2014 the evidence is that I was not very productive.  I think the term is 'slacker'.  I was somewhat slowed down for a few weeks by my shoulder injury but that is healing and is not much of an excuse.

So rather than try to compose a long essay to close out the year I am going do something relatively short.  Here are a few items that caught my attention recently.

First I want to draw your attention to the piece by Radley Balko in the Washington Post about Civil Liberties.

And a high profile challenge to the traditional gender roles.  I think Obama should have received more coverage for this and if you have not seen it then here is the quickest link I could find (yes I know it is FB but I am in a hurry)

Plus the comments are good particularly the one about being on the school target shooting team is classic.

Jim Peron is one of those writers that I try to follow because Jim usually has something insightful to say.  Not just people in Australia but people everywhere might want to take a look at this:

I wish everyone a Healthy and Prosperous New Year
